Programs Unique Opportunities Internships FCCS majors who select the concentration areas of Consumer Sciences or Human Services Management prepare a resume and seek out an appropriate internship of their choice during the fall semester of their senior year. During the concluding semester of their senior year, students participate in their selected internship, gain hands-on experience and establish connections and recommendations for employment following graduation. This valuable experience, which is the capstone of our undergraduate curriculum, is one of the features that separates the major from most on campus. Service-Learning Opportunities Undergraduate students in FCCS have engaged in service-learning projects in a variety of classes. In HUEC 4051 and HUEC 3070, students have worked with the Girl Scouts of America in designing and implementing educational activities. Students in HUEC 4064 have had the opportunity to create a website that was used for the Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series in Spring 2004. New service-learning opportunities are under development in several courses. Research Opportunities Undergraduate students in FCCS have the opportunity to participate with faculty research through two formal programs, the Chancellor's Future Leaders in Research and the College of Agriculture Undergraduate Research Program. In additions, undergraduate students often assist faculty with the faculty's research projects through either student-worker employment or for course credit. This experience allows the student to see "behind-the-scenes" and to learn about and participate in the research process first hand. Undergraduate students in the past have presented at national conferences, been awarded scholarships, and co-authored journal articles. This experience provides a valuable jumpstart for those who plan to pursue graduate degrees.
