Programs Quotes/Success Stories (from past and current students and faculty) "I would recommend
LSU's FCCS Program to anyone interested in the Human Services field. By
the time I graduated, I had a great portfolio of projects to present along
with my resume, a file of community resources, and all of the skills necessary to begin
a career in the field of my choice. It is because of the FCCS Program and Staff
that I am a successful Program Manager!" Ashley Collins manages the Nonpublic Schools Early Childhood Development (NSECD) Program. It is designed to place eligible at-risk four-year olds in a high quality, developmentally appropriate pre k classroom in private and parochial schools. Currently the program is located in 9 parishes, 47 schools and serves approximately 1,570 four-year olds. The program's budget is $8.5 million in federal dollars. As program manager, she performs a variety of tasks such as develop and implement policy and procedures, communicate with legislators, write and monitor contracts, perform on-site school visits, provide professional development opportunities for teachers, and handle school reimbursement claims. "Students in Human
Ecology are treated as individuals and they receive one-on-one assistance from academic
counseling to a hands-on approach
to teaching that prepares students for the job market. On a personal level, every
time I enter the Human Ecology Building (even though I now work there) I feel as though I
am going 'home' to a place where professors are now not only my colleagues but
my friends." Cheri Gioe holds a bachelor's degree in Family, Child, and Consumer Sciences from Louisiana State University and received a Master's degree in Education.
